Armen Saghatelyan, PhD

Armen Saghatelyan received his BSc and MSc degrees from Yerevan State University, Armenia and, after a one-year pre-doctoral training in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, did his PhD in Hamburg, Germany. He performed two post-doctoral trainings in France; first, in Pasteur Institute and second, in Ecole Normale Superieure. He established his lab at Laval University, Quebec City, Canada in 2006 and was a Canada Research Chair in postnatal neurogenesis from 2006 to 2015.

His group is interested in the molecular and cellular mechanisms governing postnatal neurogenesis in the adult olfactory bulb, with particular interest in the mechanisms regulating stem cells activation, neuronal migration, and maturation, as well as the functional role that newborn cells play in the adult brain.
